Private Commissions and Gifting

I make books one at a time, by hand, in Pittsburgh. There is no production line, or a minimum order sitting in a warehouse waiting to be personalized. I take a small number of private commissions each year. Not because I’m precious about it, but because making these books takes time. What I can promise is that every recipient, whether there are five of them or fifty, will hold something that was made with them in mind.

There are four ways to work together.

Signature Collection
Up to 50 recipients

The books coordinate with the same color palette, and same aesthetic family without being identical. When they're opened in the same room, they read as a collection. Opened across a city, each one holds its own. Every book arrives with a numbered event card: 1 of 32, or however many are created for this commission. You provide a direction. I do the rest.

Best for: award ceremonies, premieres, corporate milestones, product launches.

Curated Gifts
15 to 40 recipients

I curate for the room, not just the occasion. Tell me who’s in the audience and a little about their world, taste, what they love, and I’ll build a selection that speaks to them. No two books are the same. They will each include an event bookplate, and a numbered card.

Best for: wrap gifts, VIP events, industry dinners, curated brand gifting.

Personal Gifts
5 to 15 recipients

Each book is chosen with a specific recipient in mind. I’ll send you a short questionnaire (5 questions) and build from what you tell me. I was a professor in a former life, but this isn’t graded. Pinky promise. This also includes a named bookplate and numbered card.

Best for: board gifts, key clients, wedding parties, intimate celebrations.

Singular Commissions
1 to 3 recipients

Every element from the fabric, to the thread, to the beads, to the end papers is chosen for your specific person. Pricing and timeline by inquiry. Some gifts can’t be systematized.

Gifting and private commissions start at $200 per book. If that feels right for what you have in mind, let’s talk about your people. Start here.
