Handmade Keepsake Journal - Deep Navy Asanoha
Japanese cotton in the deepest navy, printed in ecru with asanoha, a traditional hemp-leaf star pattern long used in Japan as a symbol of growth and resilience. I sewed the spine in ecru thread and into a cross-stitch pattern across the center with wooden beads laced throughout. Inside you’ll find handmade paper endpapers marbled in ocean blues with veins of gold.
Hybrid Coptic style binding with an exposed spine, made to lie flat with a case-style hinge for added durability. The hinges are made from the same Japanese fabric, so the pattern continues along the spine.
160 pages of smooth white writing paper and a cover in dead stock, vintage or Japanese fabric. The endpapers are handmade paper from small makers in India and women's artisan collectives in Nepal, making each sheet a little different. It’s left blank so you can write or sketch, and it’s made to be treasured long after the last page is full.
No two books in the bindery are exactly alike, and once a book is gone it won't be made again. The book you see in the picture is the book you'll receive.
This Book Is Great For: Dry media like pen, pencil, charcoal, and fountain pens. This paper isn’t a fan of water. A splash will make the pages warp and a soaking will break them down. The binding can take it, but the pages can’t, so give this one the care it deserves and keep it clear of spills.
